The boy was arrested yesterday afternoon in West Yorkshire and questioned by Humberside Police in the presence of a social worker.
He was later charged with four offences between August and September this year, including a burglary at the Sutton Road Service Station.
He was also charged with theft from Baby Depot in Witham, the Orange Shop in King Edward Street, city centre, and Frankie And Benny's restaurant in Kingswood.
Today, police said the arrest was the result of the persistence of officers who were determined to track down those involved.
Detective Sergeant John Fuller, of Humberside Police's priority crime team, said: "From the persistence of the detectives investigating this case, one of the suspected offenders has been apprehended, charged and will now face prosecution.
"The media also played a large part in helping us track down the suspect.
"There was a lot of response from members of the public, which I would like to thank them for.
"As a result of us going to the media with this case, an officer from West Yorkshire was able to assist us with the inquiry."
The boy has given a Leeds address as his home.
Police have now bailed the boy and he is due to appear at Hull youth court in December.
