The worlds of pop and polo collide

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 07:00

Pop music and polo fans will rub shoulders at a new East Yorkshire summer extravaganza.

Tribfest, the showcase for acts who impersonate legendary bands, will be staged at Beverley Polo Club in Tickton.

The three-day Glastonbury-style festival will run alongside the club's Nations Cup international polo tournament from August 21 to 23.

Tribfest was previously held at Driffield Showground, but was forced to move following complaints about noise from nearby residents this year.

Organiser Eddy Faulkner said: "I was left with little choice other than to find another site for the popular festival.

"I was apprehensive that I would not be able to find anything as good as Driffield, but the reality is that I have found something better.

"We can now take Tribfest up a gear. Beverley Polo Club is a lot closer to Hull and has better facilities for the event and for our audience."

Andrew Foreman, owner of Beverley Polo Club, said: "We immediately loved Eddy's passion and his drive to take the festival to another level.

"With Eddy and our team working in partnership we aim to make Tribfest 2009 exceptional."

Festival tickets are on sale at a discounted rate between December 1 and 24 from www.tribfest.co.uk and www.quaytickets.com/tribfest or by calling 08700 666840.
