24 Redemption premieres in New York

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 17:21

Kiefer Sutherland, Robert Carlyle, Jon Voight and Gil Bellows walked up the red carpet for the 24 Redemption premiere in New York.

Kiefer, who plays the show's star Jack Bauer, explained that the two-hour TV film spells the return of the much-anticipated series, which missed a season as a result of the writers' strike in the US.

"To the fans that waited this long, we really hope they enjoy it," he told ET.

The extended episode was shot on location in South Africa and bridges the gap between seasons six and seven of the political thriller.

"It was amazing," the actor added. "It hits you on so many levels - to be in a real environment. You can build a set that looks like Africa, but you aren't going to have the people."

24 Redemption will be shown on November 24 at 10pm, on Sky1 and Sky1 HD, and will be available on DVD from December 1.
